Louise Stuart


Senior Partner

Louise is the Senior Partner of Gold Standard Foot Care. She was a consultant podiatrist in Manchester, with 30 years experience in the treatment of diabetes related foot problems. Louise was recognised in ‘The Times’ 2011 as one of the UK’s best health care professionals. She has worked exclusively in the specialist area of diabetes and was awarded an MBE for her services to her profession by the Queen in 2008. Louise was instrumental in setting up the multidisciplinary foot clinic at North Manchester General Diabetes Centre. Fellow of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. Registered with the Health Care Professions Council. Louise was also a lecturer in podiatry at the University of Salford. Nationally Louise has contributed significantly to the development of the NHS foot care standard. Louise is now an extended scope practitioner in Fascial Manipulation.


Gavin Skehan


Associate Partner

Gavin Skehan is Associate Partner at Gold Standard Foot Care. He is an experienced podiatrist having worked in the NHS for 5 years. He has worked for the last 17 years with adults who have learning disabilities.

Whilst working for the NHS Gavin has been closely involved with diabetes teams providing specialist foot care. He also has provided valuable input to diabetes research projects at North Manchester Hospital and Chorley Hospital.

Gavin’s skills range from providing assessment and diagnosis of complex foot problems to biomechanical assessments and nail surgery. Gavin’s work ranges from network housing contracts, home visits and clinic appointments at our Hindley, Leigh, Chorley and Prestwich clinics.


Jake Yates

BSc (Hons)

Associate Podiatrist

Jake joined Gold Standard Foot Care from the University of Salford after achieving a first class honours degree in podiatry.

Having served as a member of the British Army Jake has the experience of working with a variety of people in different settings.

Jake is an experienced personal trainer with a passionate interest in biomechanics. He is keen to utilise his background in personal fitness to use both exercise and mobility training alongside various podiatric strategies to help aid in sporting and muscle skeletal injuries. We are delighted that Jake has joined our team.


Caoimhe Moran

BSc Hons
Associate Podiatrist

Caoimhe graduated from The university of Salford with a first class honours degree. She has
experience working in both the NHS and the private sector. Caoimhe currently also works for Salford Royal specialising primarily in high risk foot care and biomechanics.

Stemming from her passion for health and fitness Caoimhe has a particular interest in sports and musculoskeletal injuries and has a passion for helping her patients return to the activities they love.

Moushumi Miah

Associate Podiatrist

Moushumi joins us from Salford University where she obtained a 1st class degree in Podiatry.

Moushumi heads up our team for Nursing and Residential Home visits.

Moushumi will work with Louise and Gavin at all our Surgeries, where her skills and pleasant personality will be a wonderful asset.


Edward Maddison

BSc (Hons)

Associate Podiatrist

Edward, better know as Ed has worked in NHS podiatry for 18 years. Starting his career as a foot care assistant.

Only a few years later he gained a first class honours degree in Podiatry from Salford University. He has a wealth of experience in high risk foot care and biomechanics based in hospital and community settings.

He aims to provide a high standard of podiatry care with a pleasant and friendly manner. Ed currently works at Prestwich Pharmacy on a Saturday and runs an evening clinic at the Leigh branch on a Monday.


Alison Dewhurst

DPodM, BSc, MChS

Alison is an experienced podiatrist with over 30 years experience in the NHS. During this time she has developed skills in high risk foot care, health education, biomechanics and nail surgery.

She has been involved in the National Diabetic Foot Audit of the high risk diabetic foot, in order to improve patient outcomes and has led the diabetic team in Bedford delivering care in both a hospital and community setting.

She is friendly and personable and aims to provide effective care putting clients at the centre of care.

Lorna Hicks

MSc BSc (Hons) DPodM MChs

Associate Podiatrist

Lorna has worked within the NHS for almost 30 years. She has provided valuable input into research projects advancing the understanding of diabetes foot complications, development and management of them.

Lorna was instrumental in introducing diabetes foot screening into NHS podiatry services in the nineteen nineties and more recently setting up the multidisciplinary foot clinic at North Wales Glan Clwyd Hospital Diabetes Centre. Lorna has also provided lecturer services at the University of Bangor and Glyndwr University.

Lorna has a diverse range of skills in caring for people with mobility problems, foot problems and footwear issues. With experience in gait analysis, management of pain and dysfunction in the foot and lower limb, Lorna brings a wealth of care experience to her patients.

Jodie Quinn

Associate Podiatrist

Jodie started at Gold Standard Foot Care as part of our reception team. She has recently qualified from the University of Salford studying Podiatry. Jodie has worked as a dental nurse for 13 years and has great experience working with the general public. Jodie has also worked in Australia as a dental nurse whilst travelling. Jodie is super organised, very friendly and is able to assist with any questions or queries.

Veronica Newton

Associate Podiatrist

Veronica Newton has worked as a Podiatrist for over twenty years in both the NHS, private sector and in educational settings. Veronica has a diverse range of skills in caring for people with mobility problems. Her Master’s Degree focused on limited joint mobility in people with diabetes. Veronica is currently studying for a PhD at Salford University whilst continuing as a Lecturer at University and as an Associate Podiatrist with Gold Standard Foot Care.

Lee Murphy - MRes FCPodS

Podiatric Surgeon

Mr Lee Murphy holds an NHS post as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he leads the Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He  also runs NHS clinics at Euxton Hall Hospital (near Chorley) and the Oaklands Hospital in Greater Manchester. He offers private consultations and surgery at various sites around the Northwest. His specialist surgical interests include bunion surgery, metatarsalgia, lesser toe deformities and complex forefoot reconstruction. He uses an open and honest evidence based approach with his patients, which enables you to make informed choices about the treatment options for your foot problem.

Jessica Stuart

Practice Manager

Jess is our Practice Manager and Secretary. She is your first point of contact, efficient and personable, Jess has an excellent rapport with our clientele and ensures the clinics run smoothly; she will do everything possible to handle your appointment and answer questions concerning your treatment. Karen Forshaw


Karen has joined the team at Gold Standard Foot Care as part-time Receptionist/ Admin staff based at the Chorley clinic. Karen worked for 31 years in the NHS as a qualified Mental Heath Nurse having worked in both hospital and community settings. A qualified Reiki Master/teacher with a keen interest in alternative holistic therapies and treatments for humans and animals Karen has also recently in her spare time successfully achieved a Certificate in Holistic Health for Dogs. Karen will be your first point of contact if visiting the Chorley branch

Tom Sandy

BSc (Hons)

Tom joined Gold Standard Footcare once achieving a first-class honours degree in Podiatry from the University of Salford.
Tom previously undertook a degree in biology from Sheffield Hallam University giving him a strong baseline knowledge of pathologies, while studying podiatry Tom managed a small team in the co-op giving him great experience working with the general public.

Tom is very into Personal fitness and is keen to utilise podiatric strategies to help aid in sporting and musculoskeletal injuries. Tom is very friendly and approachable and always puts the patient first when providing care.

Sarah Johnston


Sarah Johnston joins our team as Receptionist at our brand new clinic in Chorley on Market Street. Sarah will continue to work on a part time basis as a 111 advisor handling out of hours health care inquires. Sarah has worked as a 111 call handler for the past 13 years. Sarah’s brings with her a wealth of customer service experience and aims to ensure all patients leave the clinic with a lasting impression of their experience. Sarah loves interacting with patients on a day to day basis and loves to ensure every patient receives the best standard of care.
